What Is Naturopathy?

Lupus Treatment

Naturopathic Practitioners use a range of noninvasive techniques such as iridology, tongue examinations and other tests to assess the causative factors of a patient's health problems. It is not necessary for the Naturopath to name a disease because the holistic approach looks at the physical, mental and emotional aspects, the functions of the various systems of the body as well as external influences. Using Natural medicines including herbs, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, Holistic Practitioners encourage recovery and maintenance of well being through support of your body's inherent healing ability.

Naturopathy comprises a range of modalities such as Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Reiki, Diet Counseling, Physical Therapy etc. As part of a treatment plan the Naturopathic Doctor will also educate the patient about the cause of their health problems and how to improve such things as diet and life-style to assist in the healing and recovery process.

The Naturopathic approach has gained recognition as a part of the American health care system as people have become more educated about the benefits of naturopathic healing regimes and the dangers and side effects of conventional treatments. People want long term solutions to long term problems and are no longer satisfied with the temporary relief/band-aid approach of drug company sponsored medicine.

Naturopathic medicine is a healing art of assisting a person in recovery from ill health and maintaining well-being through stimulation, enhancement and support of the inherent healing capacity of his or her body by using natural means. It emphasizes that the body can heal itself if it is appropriately encouraged to do so.

To facilitate complete recovery the underlying cause must be addressed. Health and disease are conditions of the whole organism, a whole involving physical, emotional, genetic, environment and social factors. The health care practitioner must treat the whole person. Beyond an accurate diagnosis and right prescription, the practitioner must be a catalyst for healthful change and motivate the patient to assume responsibility for his her own health.

The key postulates of naturopathic medicine are these: do no harm, build health rather than fight disease, practice prevention and change when necessary.

Probably in fifty years from now, Americans will be horrified at how medicine was in the beginning of two thousand. It is unethical in anyone’s terms to deny American people these viable therapies now, while pharmaceutical companies are getting richer and richer.

Naturopathic Consultation

During a naturopathic consultation it'll be necessary for the patient to answer many question in order for the practitioner to establish a history about the present complaints as well as any other possible problems. Each question will help establish a picture to ascertain the underlying cause of the patient's health problems.

The patient's history along with Iridology, (or iris analysis) will help in assessing the current state of health as well as the progress of a patient's treatment. The Naturopath can tell from markings or the signs of the iris, the conditions of various organs and systems of the body. These markings give a detailed picture of the integrity of the body, indicating its area of congestion or toxic accumulation and inherited strengths and weaknesses.
